Smokey is our 13 year old grey tom cat.
Yesterday the lump on his right cheek was diagnosed as being cancerous.
Originally assumed to be swolen lymph node, it now appears to be linked to his saliva gland.
We are going in to see a vet/surgeon on Monday to see what the next step is.
Smokey has been feeling a little under the weather anyway, as he had to have his last teeth removed due to a recurring gum problem that had become well established before we took him on in 1999.
He has been eating voraciously since having an 'appetite boosting' tablet yesterday afternoon.
We'll see how he does the rest of this week and over the weekend.
We're not saying "goodbye" to him while he is still eating, moving around, playing and purring.
Fingers crossed...
